The 1998 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing title for drivers of cars conforming to Formula Holden regulations. The title was contested over a ten race series with the winner awarded the 1998 CAMS Gold Star. New Zealand racer Scott Dixon won the Australian Drivers' Championship driving a SH Racing Reynard 92D Holden to give SH Racing their first title after coming close to victory two years prior with Jason Bargwanna.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Gold Star Winners - 1957 - 2009 )〕 Dixon won five of the ten races to finish 44 points ahead of Victorian racer Mark Noske (Reynard 95D Holden). Todd Kelly was third, (Reynard 92D Holden) just one point behind Noske. In addition to Dixon's wins, Noske and Kelly each took two victories with Simon Wills (Reynard 92D Holden) winning the remaining race at Mallala, the first of his record 23 Australian Drivers Championship victories.
